The closest of Maryland's Main Streets, Old Ellicott City offers may unique shops and dining experiences. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum: Ellicott City (the oldest surviving railroad station in America), The Patapsco Female Institute, and The Ellicott City Firehouse Museum are just three of the museums and historic sites located downtown.
Hiking Trails
The Trolley #9 Trail starts just over the river and includes a 1.5 mile paved path and many side trails. A short way up the road, near Oella Mill, is the Oella Mill Race Trail which runs for 1.6 miles and links to many other trails.
The Hiking Project website has a good interactive map for all trails along the Patapsco Heritage Greenway.
There are a number of nearby attractions, no list will be totally inclusive. If you visit a place that you think others would like, let us know and we will add it. Here are just a few.
Clark's Elioak Farm is open for birthday parties, educational tours, offers local produce and meats as well as a petting farm, fairy forest, and the historic, restored Enchanted Forest. Located about 10-15 minutes from us directly off of Route 108, just past Centenial Park, this is a great trip for families with young children.
Larriland Farm is a family owned farm located in Western Howard county offering pick your own fruits and vegetables and a farm market. Open only during the growing season be sure to check the website or call them before heading out.

The 2021 Howard County Fair is scheduled for August 7-14. Located less than 20 minutes away the fairgrounds hold year round events. Scheduled events include, Dog Shows, Maryland FM Memorial Day Hamfest, Spa and Tub Sale, Horse Shows, Galactic-con, and more! Check out the event calendar for dates and times.
Located off of Route 70 between Baltimore and Frederick Adventure Park USA offers more than 20 indoor & outdoor attractions, including 3 roller coasters, a go cart track, and over 75 games in their Arcade.
Located within Symphony Woods in Columbia Merriweather Post Pavilion has hosted a diverse range of artists and events for over 50 years. Check out the calendar for upcoming concerts and events. Symphony Woods is also the site of the annual "Wine in the Woods" wine festival.
