Townhomes of Timberland Tennis Court

The tennis court and surrounding common area is for the use of Townhomes of Timberland Homeowners Association members and their guests. Tenants residing in the Townhomes of Timberland are provided the same privileges as HOA members. Any guests using the court must be accompanied by a HOA member.

Our goal is that the use of the tennis court and surrounding common area be a pleasant and friendly experience. The HOA Board of Directors reserves the right to change, modify, or update the following rules and regulations at any time without notice.

It is the responsibility of all users of the tennis court and the surrounding common area to be familiar with the rules and regulations as posted below.

  • The tennis court is open for play from dawn to dusk, weather permitting.
  • The Board of Directors may, at its discretion, establish set hours of operation for the tennis court.
  • Only tennis shoes or athletic shoes are permitted on the tennis court. Shoes with black soles, hard soles (street shoes), gum soles, heel wheels, spikes, high heels, taps, or shoes with hard plastic on the soles are not permitted on the playing surface.
  • The court is available on a first come, first served basis. The Board of Directors may establish a sign-up system if waiting times become problematic or court usage warrants.
  • Playing time is restricted to one (1) hour if others are waiting to use the court.
  • The court cannot be held or saved by a single player for longer than five (5) minutes if others are waiting to play.
  • Players using the court for practicing their serve or other aspects of their game must relinquish the court if others are waiting to play.
  • No more than four players are permitted on the court at one time. Friends, spectators, and non-playing children may watch from outside the fence enclosure.
  • Do not enter the tennis court when in use by other players.
  • No food or glass containers are permitted on the tennis court.
  • The court is intended for tennis ONLY. Street hockey, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, basketball, football, or other sports are not permitted within the fence enclosure.
  • No in-line skates, roller skates, skate boards, shoe skates, wheeled toys, bicycles, tricycles, strollers, scooters, wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs), or dogs are permitted inside the tennis court fence enclosure.
  • No folding chairs, lawn chairs, deck chairs, stools, or pop-up chairs are permitted on the tennis court. Players are welcome to bring their own chairs for use on the lawn outside the court.
  • Drug and alcohol usage in the tennis court enclosure or the surrounding area will not be tolerated. Any player or person found to be using the court while under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave and/or referred to the Howard County Police. Any HOA member who violates this policy will forfeit their court use privileges. The Board of Directors can issue an alcohol wavier for HOA members seeking to use the open area next to the tennis court for sanctioned functions.
  • All users of the tennis court are responsible for keeping the tennis court enclosure and the surrounding area clean and safe. All refuse, including ball cans, lids, empty plastic bottles (water, sports drinks, fruit juice, etc.), food wrappers, and any other material brought onto the courts must be removed from the court and the surrounding grounds. All residents are urged to assist in keeping the tennis court and the surrounding grounds clean and pleasant. GLASS CONTAINERS OF ANY KIND ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
  • Smoking on the tennis court is prohibited.
  • Use of the tennis courts must be conducted in a safe manner with due respect and consideration for others who are sharing the courts as well as for those who live in the nearby townhouses, particularly during early morning and evening play. Tennis court rules and courtesies apply at all times.
  • The use of profane or obscene language is not permitted.
  • Rough play or abusive conduct is not permitted.
  • Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult.
  • The Townhomes of Timberland Homeowners Association is not responsible for the loss of or damage to any personal property used or left in the tennis court enclosure or the surrounding common area.

HOA members and their guests must comply with all rules relating to the use of the tennis court whether posted on the HOA website or on signs posted at the tennis court. Any person who violates any of the rules and regulations listed above or any resident not in good standing with the Townhomes of Timberland, Inc. will be subject to revocation of their playing privileges.
